Abstract

The syntheses and X-ray characterization of one new metal-organic polymer, {[Zn(bpdc)(H 2 O) 3 ]· 3H 2 O{ n (H 2 bpdc = 2,2′-Bipyridyl-3,3′-dicarboxylic acid) (1), has been reported. It exhibits one-dimensional helical structure that is further assembled into three-dimensional framework via strong hydrogen-bonded interactions and aromatic π –π stacking interactions. This result indicates that behavior and geometry of ligand is one of the most important factors for the construction of helical motif.
