Abstract

The study aimed to analyze the translation learning needs of English major students at Hung Vuong Universityand inform some implications of pedagogy to address their needs. To this end, 75 Vietnamese students, who at the time of the study were studying English as their major, were subjected to a survey questionnaire to identify their problems, abilities, practices and needs in learning translations. Findings showed that students have a strong need to improve their language proficiency, translation strategies, training in translating different text types and have more extra practice in translation. Results were discussed and some implications were presented.
