Abstract
The determination of SWATH ship resistance through model tests alone would be expensive and because such ships are relatively new, even empirical data is mostly lacking. The author therefore develops a method for calculating their wave resistance, based on the linearized theory. Numerical results for two SWATH ships compare well with towing tank results, demonstrating the computational method's utility for practical purposes.
