Abstract

This work fits in the field of agricultural geography, seeking to address the expanding cultivation of sugar cane in the city of Clementina, in the provincie of Sao Paulo, Brazil. The central objective of the present work is expanding the cultivation of sugar cane in the city, contextualizing and linking this process with the implementation of the plant in Clealco Sugar and Alcohol. Its consolidation in Clementina contributed significantly to the expansion of sugarcane cultivation in the years 1980 and influenced many farmers to abandon their cultures and renting their land for the cultivation of sugar cane.
