Abstract

VDR(Voyage Data Recorder), the system that saves ship motion and state information, is applied generally to large vessels, but to small vessels for a variety of reasons. However, as recent research and development about small electric propulsion ship is active, a system is required to ensure the durability of the electric propulsion system to measure the dynamic characteristics. Therefore, this study develops a small/low cost VDR system that can measure the dynamic characteristics about water motorcycle that has the biggest dynamic characteristics among small ships. And VDR system obtains more accurate position data by filtering the measurement data to the EKF (Extended Kalman Filter). Further, the dynamic characteristics analysis program, which receives the filtered data to calculate the load applied to an electric propulsion system, is developed and will be applied to HILS (Hardware In the Loop Simulation) through additional study.
