Abstract

Hardware in the loop (HIL) simulations are used widely in each of industry market — starting from automotive sector to high voltage power electronics plants. Popularity of hardware in the loop systems is caused by savings on the time spent on commissioning of developed systems. Nowadays, there are available many providers of hardware in the loop simulation systems on the market, but each system has its own pros and contras. The article present result of an evaluation of System on the Chip solutions to create hardware in the loop simulator for Power Electronics Grid Simulator (PEGS) model running in the loop with ABB AC800 PEC Controller and ABB ACS6000 Converter. Xilinx ZYNQ based hardware in the loop simulator is a device which allows for emulation of power electronics by means of numerical calculations. It consists from developed hardware and software using automatic code generation solutions for model part of the system executed in Processing System (PS) and also for the Field-Programmable Gates Array (FPGA) part.
