Abstract
This paper proposes an active frequency selective surface (AFSS) with switchable transmission and reflection in dual bands. The AFSS is a multi-layered structure with two metallic layers and three dielectric layers. By controlling the switching states of the PIN diodes placed in the upper and lower metallic layers, we can get reconfigurable performance of the AFSS. The combination of the “ON” and “OFF” states of all the PIN diodes can help to achieve the transition between transmission and reflection in C-band and X-band. The numerical simulation results agree well with the theoretical analysis. The proposed metasurface can find wide range of applications in frequency selective filter and radome.
