Abstract

This study analyzes the mobile applications of five largest Brazilian banking institutions on principles of usability proposed in literature and draws a parallel the results with these technologies use by elderly public. Such an approach is justified by increasing life expectancy around the world and the considerable increase in smartphones use by senior citizens. Study purpose is to understand the banking applications use dynamics of by the elderly population of southern Minas Gerais. This aim was achieved through documentary and quantitative analysis, with application of multivariate analysis, descriptive statistics techniques and cluster. The research population was segmented among the elderly, adults and adolescents, allowing identification different patterns of behavior among the age groups. The results demonstrated that main impeding factors for banking applications use by the elderly are smartphones incompatible and fear. It was perceived that younger population make use of and is satisfied with banking applications of main Brazilian banks.
