Abstract

We report the magnetic excitation spectra of ErBa 2Cu 3O 7 determined by inelastic neutron scattering. The energies and intensities of the excitations are analyzed in terms of a crystal field model under the scheme of intermediate coupling calculated by spherical tensor techniques. The parameters obtained here are compared with parameters previously determined for the same material, as well as with parameters determined for other rare earths in the same environment.
