Abstract

The experimental data published by Sandell on the nickel-ethoxyacetate, nickel-(ethylthio)acetate, zinc-ethoxyacetate, zinc-(ethylthio)acetate, and lead ethoxyacetate systems, studied potentiometrically have been analyzed. The validity of the following relation connecting the overall stability constants of consecutive metal complexes has been confirmed: β n=A· a n n! where β n is the overall stability constant of the complex ML n , n is the number of ligands in a given complex ( I⩽ n ⩽ N), N is the coordination number of the complex forming metal M, A and a are constants. The complexity tendency in some metal-ethoxyacetate and some metal-(ethylthio)acetate systems has been discussed.
