Abstract

Fine commercial copper wire, attached with Formel varnish to a copper base, has sufficiently stable and reproducible resistance temperature characteristics to be used as a resistance thermometer in the temperature range 20°–320°K. Excellent thermal contact is achieved by this construction; hence, unusually large heat inputs to the thermometer can be tolerated. Resistance and temperature coefficient of resistance are tabulated and limitations of accuracy discussed.
