Abstract
(Abstracted from BJOG 2024;131:699–708) Global greenhouse gas emissions continue to fuel the climate crisis, and health care systems are responsible for a significant proportion of these emissions, with the National Health Service (NHS) accounting for 4% of United Kingdom’s total carbon footprint. The NHS Cervical Screening Programme (NHSCSP) has successfully reduced cervical cancer mortality by 70% and currently requires participants to have a cervical sample taken by a clinician during speculum examination.
