His mother and paternal uncle had had the same disease. This hereditary background, the abnormally early onset of the illness, and the unusually good response to therapy have prompted the presentation of this case report.Hurst,1Meulengracht,2Johannessohn,3Tscherning,4Ungley and Suzman,5and others have presented instances of subacute combined degeneration occurring in more than one member of a family.
