Abstract

By combining a Substrate-Integrated Waveguide-feed magneto-electric dipole antenna and a dielectric plate lens, a new broadband high-gain magneto-electric dipole antenna is proposed, especially for the new unlicensed frequency band. Due to the addition of dielectric plate lens, the gain of the original magneto-electric dipole antenna is significantly improved. The proposed antenna has a simple structure and is very easy to manufacture. The proposed antenna achieves a simulated impedance bandwidth of 51.9% covering 44.7 GHz to 76 GHz. It fully includes the new unlicensed frequency band (57-71 GHz) in the new 5G standard. The maximum gain in the Z-direction is up to 16.3 dBi. The proposed antenna has the advantages of high gain, wide bandwidth, simple structure, low cross-polarization and low back radiation level.
