Abstract

In fifth generation (5G) new radio (NR), the transport block size (TBS) is determined by using a formula. There may be a large deviation between the actual code rate and the target code rate. As a result, the radio link quality should be aligned with the actual code rate instead of the target code rate. It is desirable to know the actual code rate for the given modulation and coding scheme (MCS). In this paper, we derive a bound on the actual code rate in 5G NR.
