Abstract
A coordination polymer [Co 4 (μ 2 -H 2 O) 2 (1,4-ndc) 4 (dpp) 2 ] n ( 1 ) with the 1,4-naphthalenedicarboxylic acid (1,4-H 2 ndc) and 1,3-di(4-pyridyl)propane (dpp) mixed ligands has been synthesized and structurally and magnetically characterized. Compound 1 features a 3D framework based on the tetranuclear [Co 4 (μ 2 -H 2 O) 2 (COO) 6 ] secondary building units (SBUs) where the four cobalt ions are coplanar. The 3D coordination network of 1 is a rare 10-connected network of (3 6 ·4 34 ·5 3 ·6 2 ) topology based on the tetranuclear cobalt cluster nodes. Magnetic measurements on compound 1 indicate that there is a net antiferromagnetic coupling among the Co(II) ions. A ten-connected coordination network [Co 4 (μ 2 -H 2 O) 2 (1,4-ndc) 4 (dpp) 2 ] n has been synthesized and structurally and magnetically characterized. • Co(II) coordination polymer • Planar tetranuclear cobalt cluster • 10-connected network of (3 6 ·4 34 ·5 3 ·6 2 ) topology • Magnetism
