Abstract
Childhood mortality from diarrheal disorders remains high. The development of the Oral Rehydration Solution (ORS) and its incorporation into clinical practice has been key in reducing both morbidity and deaths worldwide. Guidelines for the management of diarrhea are based on an adequate clinical assessment of the infant or child presenting at clinics and hospitals, regardless of the underlying cause.
