Abstract
This chapter allows the reader to become familiar with what information is required to define the service and range of operation, develop stream properties, and evaluate heat exchanger operation and performance. Topics included in the chapter are what Tubular Exchanger Manufacturers Association (TEMA) type is appropriate for each type of service, how to handle known design/modification challenges, know what information is required for heat exchanger design and evaluation and basic maintenance practices for heat exchangers.
