Abstract

Both strong coupling methodstrong coupling method and weak coupling methodweak coupling method are commonly used in fluid–structure interaction (FSI) analysis. In this chapter, the performance of the strong and weak coupling method in FSIFSI analysis is compared, and three cases of FSI are presented. In the first case, a simple inflow problem of fluid in an enclosed cylinder vessel is studied. The second case is a FSI simulation of flow around cylinder with a flexible tail attached. The third one is an FSI analysis of a three-dimensional wing structurewing structure that flaps in a water channel.
