Abstract

This section of the book on “Urban Logistics Stakeholders” provides an overview of the key stakeholders involved in urban freight logistics and their role in decision-making processes. The section is divided into two parts: the first part examines the main urban logistics chains, the impact of urban freight logistics, and the challenges that stakeholders face in this context. The second part focuses on engaging stakeholders in urban logistics and provides an introduction to stakeholder engagement plans. The first part of the section highlights the importance of understanding the key stakeholders involved in urban freight logistics. It covers the main urban logistics chains, including local governments, private sector actors such as logistics companies, retailers, and manufacturers, as well as community organizations and academic institutions. The section also discusses the impact of urban freight logistics on cities and the challenges that stakeholders face in this context, including congestion, environmental impacts, and safety concerns. Additionally, the section explores the decision-making processes involved in urban freight logistics and the role of stakeholders in these processes.
