Abstract

Plasma low-density lipoprotein apolipoprotein B oxidation (LDL-Box) contributes significantly to atherosclerosis in type 2 diabetes (T2D) patients. Unknown is the impact of antioxidant-containing flaxseed lignan complex (FLC) on plasma total peroxyl radical-trapping antioxidant potential responsiveness (TRAPR) and, consequently, LDL-Box reduction responsiveness (LDLBoxRR). It was hypothesised that in older T2D patients, TRAPR to FLC consumption would dictate LDLBoxRR. The objective was to test this hypothesis.
