Abstract

To complement the previous chapter regarding regulatory considerations and developments regarding food contact can coatings in the United States, this chapter addresses the regulation of coatings for food contact materials in other jurisdictions. As will be discussed in this chapter, some jurisdictions apply the same regulations to coatings on metal substrates (e.g., can coatings) and coatings on other substrates, such as plastic films, while other jurisdictions handle can coatings separately. This chapter does not address paper coatings, as these types of coatings typically are regulated separately along with the regulation of food contact paper.
