Abstract
Nanostructured optical fiber (NOF) with nanoscale core and cladding provides the advantage of tailorable dispersion, high strength, efficient fabrication, and protective tube-shaped cladding. In this chapter, recent advances in the fabrication and application of soft-glass NOFs are introduced. The advantages and applicability of different preparation methods are reviewed. Finally, the achievements and challenges of NOFs are also proposed with several prospects.
