Abstract

In this chapter we discuss several aspects of step-stress life test that do not fit in the previous chapters. We have considered prefixed times of change of the stress levels in the previous chapters. However it is possible to have a step-stress life test where the stress changing times are random. This model has been discussed in this chapter. Note that one of the main aims of a step-stress life test is to increase the stress level such that adequate number of failures can be obtained within an affordable time. Hence it is quite natural that a stress level is more severer than the previous stress level and it imposes order restriction on the model parameters. The order restricted inference of the model parameters is considered in this chapter. We address meta analysis of step-stress model. Optimal choice of stress changing time is a quite crucial issue of a step-stress life test and it is discussed in this chapter. Several open problems have been suggested for future research.
