Abstract

MG operation optimization is one of the core functions of energy management systems, which aims to realize specific objectives related to economic, environment, and reliability through coordinated scheduling of DERs, ESS, and flexible loads. The key challenges for MG operation optimization lies in the uncertainties from RES and loads. Techniques like stochastic optimization (SO) and robust optimization (RO) are widely used to deal with the uncertainties. In this chapter, the framework of MG EMS is introduced. The basic models of deterministic optimization, SO, and RO are provided and a simple comparison is made in the case study. Additionally, the coordinated optimization of multi-microgrid system is also introduced.
