Abstract
The goal of MG planning is to determine an optimal configuration and design scheme that is economical and reliable. Due to smaller scale and sensitiveness to the randomness of DERs and loads, the operating performance in different scenarios should be considered during the planning and design process of MG. This chapter focuses on the theories and methods of MG planning and design. The basic procedures are introduced, followed by a two-level optimization model. Then, the main tools for MG planning and design is provided, and a case study is conducted to present the planning procedures more detailed.
