Abstract

Recently, investigations about utilizing of waste plastic as fractional substitution of fine or coarse aggregate in concrete are expanding; so, to ensure fruitful application in the field, the workability should be adequate to ensure simplicity of transporting, placing, compacting, and finishing the produced concrete without isolation of its substances. Besides success of incorporating any material into concrete relies upon control on its fresh properties which controls latter’s strength and durability issues. This chapter focuses on the mix proportion, workability, and fresh properties of plastic aggregate concrete. As indicated by the plastic particle size, it creates the impression that the small particles prompt more workable mix than the coarse one. Besides rounded shape of plastic aggregate give better workability than angular ones for both conventional and self-compacted concrete. In general, the fresh density of plastic aggregate (fine or coarse) concrete is lower as compared to that without plastic.
