Abstract

Fatigue behavior of silicon was compared among different testing techniques performed in 6 institutions in Japan. A variety of specimens was subjected to fatigue loading with different testing techniques under different conditions such as load ratio, humidity and temperature. In summary, although their initial strength under monotonically increasing load scattered significantly, the trend of fatigue lifetime was found to be well formulated consistently on the basis of Paris' law to describe equivalent fatigue crack extension process.
