Abstract

The external compensation of AMOLED pixels that is regarded as essential for large‐area displays needs a random access gate driver to select any gate line in vertical blank time. Also, for high‐resolution, high‐frame‐rate, and large‐area displays, a gate driver with overlap driving is needed for high pixel charging ratio. In this study, a decoder‐based random access gate driver with overlap driving is proposed and verified by HSPICE simulation and fabrication of the circuits with a‐IGZO TFTs. The proposed decoder composed of TFTs in parallel enables the random access and overlap driving without increase in circuit area and power consumption.
