Abstract
Using the one dimensional heat conduction equation for a current carrying wire placed in vacuo an exact relation for thermal conductivity has been obtained in terms of measurable quantities. For the thermal conductivity, specific electrical resistance, coefficient of thermal expansion, and Thomson coefficient, it was assumed that there were arbitrary functions of the temperature being locus independent. The error introduced by assuming one-dimensional heat flow could be made very small by the proper arrangements and procedures.
