Abstract

In this chapter, first basic parameters and properties of pure compounds are defined. These properties are either temperature-independent or values of some basic properties at a fixed temperature. However, the composition of natural gas is not universally constant, as it is normally drawn from several production fields. Variations in the composition of gas delivered by pipelines can be caused by: (1) variations in the proportion of the contribution from various sources at a given supply location and (2) time variations within a given supply source.
