Abstract

Color management is one of the key difficulties within textile dyeing and printing regardless of the technology. A major part of the problem with digitally based technology is the discrepancy that can arise between a color produced by a computer monitor and that resulting from a dye. This consumes considerable time and resources as parties strive to achieve a match between their digital sample of a color and a printed or dyed swatch of cloth. This section will explain why this occurs and consider ways to address this problem, such as calibration. It considers “best practice” in this area and where parameters should be drawn to maximize quality with efficiency.
