Abstract

Medical textile materials are made from fibers by using a large variety of textile-based processing technologies, from weaving, knitting, braiding, and nonwoven processing to bleaching, dyeing, finishing, and printing. This chapter offers a brief description of the various textile technologies used for the manufacture of medical textile materials and describes the treatment methods for these materials. The processing techniques for finished products, such as packaging and sterilization, are also described.
