Abstract

Medical textiles are one of the most dynamically expanding sectors in the technical textile market. At a time when new knowledge changes peoples lifestyle on a regular basis both technological push and the market pull in medical and healthcare fields have generated a strong momentum for research, manufacture, development, and sale of novel medical textile materials. The efficacy and suitability of these products need to be evaluated. This evaluation can be accomplished by testing the products behavior in a simulated environment using manikins. By testing the medical textiles using these manikins in a safe and regulated environment, future researchers can learn permanent and excellent evaluation techniques thus ensuring the safety of the patients. While there may never be unequivocal evidence of simulation’s benefits equivalent to multiple randomized clinical trials, but there are instances where it can be safely used.
