Abstract
Composite patch repair is accepted by aerospace agency as an effective repair methodology. Numerical models of plate repaired with composite patch is prepared and analyzed in ABAQUS. Three dimensional analysis provides better insight into fracture investigation. Contour integral method is used for the analysis of cracked Al2024-T3 plate. Symmetric and asymmetric patch repair methodology is analyzed with numerical model. Symmetric patch offered uniform load transfer and resulted into further cutback in stress intensity factor. Results obtained for stress intensity factors are compared with analytical model of Rose and Ishida. Numerical results achieved are in good agreement with the analytical results.
