Abstract

A preliminary report is presented on the behavior of the thermal conductivity of carbon dioxide in the critical region**A more extended publication is in preparation.. In this region the tendency for convection becomes very high. A thermal conductivity cell specially designed to meet this difficulty from the outset was constructed. It is shown that the thermal conductivity coefficient possesses a pronounced maximum in the critical region. A comparison is made with the behavior of the specific heat and the viscosity.
