Abstract

Symptomatic multidirectional instability can be effectively managed with a well-performed arthroscopic capsular plication when a prolonged course of physical therapy and rehabilitation has failed. This treatment can yield satisfying results, with improved comfort and return of functional deficits. Surgical management begins with an examination under anesthesia, a thorough arthroscopic assessment of all pertinent areas of pathology, and with a meticulous arthroscopic technique. An individualized approach to repair the patient-specific global pattern of instability is imperative to achieve successful outcomes.
