Abstract
This chapter first discusses resilience assessment methods, focusing on the so-called resilience triangle. Then, a brief introduction to graph theory is presented, which provides necessary mathematical tools for studying the complex network systems in civil infrastructure and related engineering fields. In introducing graph theory, ample references to graph theory textbooks are made. The selection of materials from the many publications on graph theory, which is loosely grouped and still developing, however, does reflect the author’s (Z. Shi) understanding and preferences for the fields of application.
