Abstract
The chapter outlines a global context for the apparel industry, describes how size and shape data from intergenerational population surveys help to provide not only better-fitting clothes but also a more sustainable supply chain. It considers ways in which surveys can be planned and implemented using 3-D scanning technology and looks at how emerging technologies could influence the methods by which future surveys might be undertaken to ensure sustainable practice and inclusive design strategies.
