Abstract
This chapter provides the general basics and the language differences as a starting point for study of object orientation. It discusses symbols, standard types, declarations, and expressions. Keywords emphasize program parts, and they are reserved, which means they must not be otherwise used as names. Comments can extend over several lines and are enclosed within special symbols, or they begin at any position and occupy the remainder of the line. Declarations introduce a name and link it with a type. Some of the most important declarations are those for constants and variables. Constants keep their values across the entire program, which means each is a name for a certain value. Object-oriented programming uses arithmetic expressions, comparative expressions, and Boolean expressions. Each expression consists of operands and operators. The chapter presents the basic functions and characteristics of object oriented programming (OOP) program, like procedures, arrays, strings, records, language particulars, modules, and pointers..
