Abstract

The ICCES-2021 was a premier forum for the presentation of new advances and research results in the fields of civil engineering. The conference brought together leading researchers, engineers, and scientists in the domain of interest from around the world. The main objective of ICCES-2021 was to provide a platform for civil engineers and scientists to discuss and share recent research findings in multi disciplines of civil engineering and for knowledge transfer.This conference is a periodic conference held every two years at the University of Al-Qadisiyah, Iraq and organized by Department of Roads and Transport Engineering and Department of Civil Engineering. It is an important event for university professors and postgraduate students in Iraq for continuous learning, sharing new findings and ideas, and also for making new connections for future collaborative research.The conference included an opening session which has been held in a hybrid mode, where in person sessions have been done at the campus of the University of Al-Qadisiyah and also these sessions have been podcasted live via Zoom. The number of participants who attended the opening session was 358 and the number of those who participated virtually via Zoom was 340. The time of the opening session was about 80 minutes which included the opening ceremony and two keynote presentations by Prof. Dr. Rafid Al Khaddar and Prof. Dr. Nadhir Al-Ansari.The conference also included 10 topical sessions that covered all of the conference topics. These sessions have also been held in the hybrid mode. The researchers presented their work in these sessions for a duration of 10 minutes for each presentation with extra five minutes to answer questions from the audience and to allow time for discussion and stimulating ideas. The total number of participants in the sessions was 377. The majority of the participants were from the well-known universities in Iraq. Also, there were participants from USA, UK, Turkey, Iran. Russia, Sudan, and Sweden.This proceeding contains the peer-reviewed papers which have been presented in the conference.
