Abstract

With the ever-increasing demand to improve noise, vibration and harshness (NVH) in motor vehicles one of the most significant powertrain contributions comes from the dual mass flywheel (DMF). Its primary aim is to reduce rattle and boom in full and part load drive situations. This chapter illustrates the range of development effort aimed at reducing engine-induced rotational vibrations in the drivetrain.
