Abstract

The chapter gives an overview of the regulatory regime for food contact materials in the EU (European Union) and in the United States, contrasting the differing approaches taken in each jurisdiction. The impact of these different approaches is examined in terms of globalization of supply and the impact upon product development. Possible future developments in legislation and regulation of food contact materials are discussed.
