Abstract
A criterion for the self-identification is proposed for evaluating the ability of variable parameters in adaptive structure systems to change the vibration properties. The criterion is derived by analyzing a set of the Modal Assurance Criterion corresponding to the two independent mode shapes, which are changed by the variable parameters. Numerical experiments indicate that, with this criterion, the ability of the variable stiffness spring for changing the modal properties of a flexible beam can be sufficiently evaluated.
