Abstract
The second part of two-series paper deals with qualitative aspects of groundwater problems in the United States. As groundwater pollution has been one of the most serious environmental problems, new legislations, new technologies, and other activities have been developed, though there are still many unsolved problems. Four main topics, that is, groundwater pollution from landfills or surface impoundment, leaking underground tanks, deicing salt, and non-point source pollution from agricultural activities are discussed briefly with their backgrounds and related activities in this paper. Man-power seems to be the most important key to cope with groundwater pollution issues.
