Abstract

The main principles of pressurized fluid extraction (PFE), including basic extraction theory and the effects of solvent selection and temperature variations are discussed. Methods for achieving selectivity during the extraction are described, and future trends explored. Examples of applications include extraction methods developed for environmental and food analysis. Some advice on building equipment in the laboratory is given.
