2 - Goal-oriented methodology

Abstract

This chapter illustrates the historical developments and future of the goal-oriented (GO) method, the basic theory of the GO method, and from aspects of the GO model and GO operation in order for readers to learn about the GO method. In order to illustrate the advantages of GO method, it is compared with some typical graphical methods, especially fault tree analysis and Monte Carlo simulation. The chapter provides the basic background knowledge to the book.
