Abstract
The reasons why many valuable constituents of agro waste co-products have, until now, remained unexploited are explored with the help of data from two case studies of the EU FP6 project REPRO in order to find out if the technological results are economically viable. Economical constraints are identified and the outcome of a cost-benefit analysis is presented. New up-grading processes are compared with three standard ways of waste disposal: landfill, animal feed and composting.
