Abstract

One of the most intractable definitions in biology is that of the species. Species may be defined in different ways and using different criteria, and the species “concept” used may depend on the particular group studied or on a particular goal. However, it is important to precisely define the basis or concept of a species and infraspecies in any systematic or taxonomic work.
