Abstract
Although good to excellent outcome after any type of breast reduction can be accomplished by plastic surgeons once they have mastered their technique, the final outcome can be less satisfactory to patients because of immediate postoperative complications and long-term problems such as shape, symmetry, or scarring. The inverted-T inferior pedicle breast reduction is a popular procedure of choice in the United States because it can be used for almost all patients in a relatively standard fashion. In this chapter, the author introduces his preferred technique of the inverted-T inferior pedicle breast reduction. The preoperative and intraoperative markings of the breast, step-by-step surgical procedures, and technical refinements are also described in detail. In addition, the pearls for achieving an optimal outcome and management of complications for inferior pedicle breast reduction are discussed.
